Future Food Studio: Plant-Based Cooking with JUST Egg
Sponsored by SOCIAL SUPPLY
The creators of JUST Egg have just built a pop-up kitchen, Future Food Studio, for free cooking classes at the Jing An Kerry Centre Piazza.
The Future Food Studio is a pretty impressive setup for something that was assembled in five days—mobile cooking stations, high tech digital boards and a herb garden. It’s all part of their month-long residency to give plant-based and JUST fans, and product-curious foodies a chance to cook with JUST Egg.
About
What is JUST Egg?
If you haven’t heard, JUST Egg is a plant-based alternative to eggs. It is made with mung beans, legumes that are high in protein. It has roughly the same amount of protein as a regular egg, but it’s cholesterol-free. And it’s pretty filling—there are about eight eggs worth in a 355ml bottle.
If you’re allergic to eggs, eating consciously, or want to consume less meat-based products, this is for you.

Future Food Studio
The Future Food Studio by Eat Just is a culinary studio where you can learn how to cook plant-based dishes with JUST Egg, led by a roster of talented Shanghai-based chefs.
Chefs include Brian Tan (Gourmet Library), Jamie Pea (Egg, Maiya), Jonathan He (Bird), Francois Guissani and Evo Ni (CieCas), Chris Zhu (formerly Bird), Yi-Wen (The Plant Forward LLAB), Beichuan Yang (INKWOOD), Andrew Moo (Taste Collective) and more.
Chef Jonathan He
I went for chef Jonathan He’s class, okonomiyaki and omelet. These are simple recipes that you can recreate at home, and if you haven’t tried the product before, it’s a good introduction to how to best cook it. Plus, you get to eat your creation afterwards and take whatever leftovers home.

Omelet
It’s also about the experience itself. There are few cooking classes available in Shanghai, and even fewer focusing on plant-based meals. If anything, what JUST Egg is doing at Future Food Studio is sparking conversation, feeding creativity, and giving us something new and interesting to do.
Classes range from easy breakfasts, lunch and brunch dishes to baking and fine dining. There are also classes for kids.
Classes are free and are available everyday from October 10-30, starting from 11am to 6:30pm. Each class is 1-2 hours.
To sign up, you have to register on the Future Food Studio WeChat Mini Program by filling out a questionnaire for the class you want and you’ll be waitlisted. Each person is limited to sign up for one class only. All confirmed guests get to bring a +1 to the same class—just have your friend sign up, too!
The full list of classes and times are on the mini program. You can also buy JUST Egg products via the mini program.
